Sony Vegas Pro has everything you need to edit videos like a professional. A rich selection of input and output options, flexible controls or powerful composing engines are just a few examples. It gives you the possibility of stitching video and audio clips together with pin-point accuracy and very little effort.

The software is free to try, with some minor restrictions. The size of the setup file is close to 400 MB, so it may take some time to download and install the program. It is available for all popular platforms and it should run fine on any modern-day computer. However, more resources will make it run significantly better.

Sony Vegas Pro's modular user interface has a fairly familiar design. If you have ever worked with a video editing program before, you won't have any kind of difficulties with this one. Importing media files, manipulating them in a timeline, previewing the montage and performing other actions can be done on separate panels. Commonly used options are well arranged so that you will always find them handy in the area you are focusing on.

Media files can be imported from several sources. Besides loading them directly from local folders, you can also capture footage from a connected camera, extract audio from a CD or retrieve media from the web. Once they are imported, media files can be sorted by type, tags or other criteria, in separate folders. It is definitely worth mentioning that Sony Vegas Pro provides support for SD, HD, 2k and 4K videos, in standard 2D or 3D. The best part is that working with these materials is quite easy, due to the software's drag and drop functionality.

There are many options to choose from when it comes to rendering a project. The software can export a montage to numerous video formats, in NTCS or PAL and with various quality settings. Another useful feature is Sony Vegas Pro's project interchange capability, which enables you to save a project in other formats, besides Sony Vegas Pro's proprietary format. In other words, you can save a project in a format for Adobe Premiere or After Effects, Final Cut and other editors.

Pros

Sony Vegas Pro comes with a large amount of video editing tools. It lets you manipulate media files in a timeline, add special effects and much more. The software's controls are well organized and quite easy to understand.

Cons

The rendering options could be better organized. When it comes to creating a professional video montage, you can be sure that Sony Vegas Pro is an effective and reliable tool.
